Welcome to Bluebirds' Class
Year 5 Mr Ingram
It'll all be over by Christmas
Our first topic is about WW1. We had the fantastic opportunity to visit The Regimental Museum of The Royal Welsh and learnt about what life was like during this time. We enjoyed enlisting and also dressing up as soldiers. Also we were able to study artefacts from WW1. In literacy we have learnt to write, letters, poems, recounts and biographies about WW1. We have used our ICT skills to research and present our work using Office Mix, Sway, Book Creator. We enjoyed using our mathematical skills crack the Morse code and also finding out about trench warfare, the vehicles used and about 'Aces.'
We used Minecraft to build a WW1 trench from our research.
To Infinity and Beyond
This term we are learning all about space. We are looking at the planets and their features, how far they are away from the sun, size temperatures, before making a spread sheet to compare information. We are finding out about shadows using numeracy across the curriculum. Bluebird's are also using their oracy skills to create a class debate on whether aliens exist? We will use our ICT to present this information using Sway, One Note, Office Mix, Minecraft.
In PE we will find out how to training like an astronaut and also produce a dance of the moon landing.
Bluebirds will also study a range of artists such as Peter Thorpe and Ericka Herazo to produce drawings and pictures.
