Rights Respecting Schools Award

The aim at Darran Park Primary School is to improve well being and develop every child's talent and ability to reach their full potential.
Children's rights are at the heart of our school practice and ethos through the UNICEF Rights Respecting Schools Award.
To achieve Recognition of Committment (ROC) in the first stage of the Rights Respecting Schools Award we at Darran Park have set up a steering group, led by Miss J Richards (Junior Department) and Mrs A Evans (Foundation Phase).
The pupils lead and monitor the progress so that we become a Rights Respecting School.

In the first meeting, the steering group held a competition to choose a mascot. The name of the mascot chosen was Harper the Hedgehog and visitors will see him all around our school.

Every Class has a class charter which shows our rights and promises linked into the UN Convention for the Rights of the Child.
