Welcome to our class web page.

Summer Term
Our new topic is called the Road to Rio. During this Geography/PE based topic we have been learning about the Olympics and the countries which take part in it. We have been creating a OneNote Class Notebook about the Olympics and creating databases about Olympic host cities.
We have also been learning about the geography of Brazil and looking at the difference between physical and human features.
We will share some of our work very soon.

Blitz: Wales At War
Last term we learned about World War Two in our topic Blitz: Wales at War. Our topic started with a mysterious letter being delivered to the classroom. The letter contained a map of Darran Park with grid references. We followed the grid references and found a series of clues. Finally we found a time capsule containing a QR code and some World War Two resources. When we scanned the code, we discovered a website created by a historian from Australia. He wanted us to help him create a book about Wales during World War Two.  We worked with ten other schools, from around South Wales, throughout the project using a shared Hwb+ site.

Our trip to 1940s Swansea Bay to learn about Wales during World War Two.
Off With Her Head
In our first half term we learned about Tudor Britain through our topic: Off With Her Head. During the topic we learned about the Tudor monarchy and discovered what it would be like to live in Britain during that time.
We developed our writing skills by writing Tudor stories
and balanced arguments.  We also be visited Pembroke Castle to learn what it would be like to live in Wales during this interesting period of history.

What can you find out about these pictures?

Office Mix
Over the last half term we have been developing our ICT skills by learning how to use Office Mix to share and present our work. We used screen record to capture our Minecraft Tudor village. We also used it to create a presentation about the Rhondda Heritage Park we created using Minecraft.
Things to Remember:

Please can homework be completed in Learning Logs.
Please bring reading books in to be changed.
Our Friends in JESS School Dubai
We have been working with the children from JESS School Dubai over the last term. Firstly, we emailed questions that we'd both like to find out each other's schools and created videos to share with them. We learned that their school was similar to ours in many ways: we speak English, we use lots of technology in class and they are also learning about Roald Dahl.  On the other hand Dubai is very different to Wales. For example, their winter is hotter than our summer.  Next year  we will be making regular Skype calls with our new friends.
