What learning looks like in our class......
This week has been all about Chinese New Year, which will be celebrated in Saturday 28th January. It is the Year of the Rooster. We had a great time making and eating noodles and prawn crackers. We were surprisingly good at using chopsticks.
We used forks to create painted Roosters, painted symmetrical dragons and used our new light box to practise Chinese writing. We explored coloured spaghetti and chopsticks in messy pay and used coloured rice for mark making.

Snack – Snack money is £1 per week. This enables us to provide the children with a variety of fruit every day. This money also pays for class treats. Could you please send this money in on a Monday in a labelled envelope. Children will not need to bring a snack to school each day.
School Dinners – The cost of school dinners is £2.40 per day or £12 per week. All dinner money needs to be paid on a Monday. All monies need to be put in an envelope with your child’s name and class clearly labelled.
Water - Water is important for learning! Children will have access to water when ever they want in class.
School Clothing – Can you please ensure that all school clothing is clearly labelled with your child’s name.
PE clothing – Our designated days for PE sessions will be Thursday. The children will need a pair of shorts and a t-shirt at school. It may make it easier if you send your child into school on this day with tracksuit bottoms on to make it easier for them to change themselves.
Pupil Information – If you have not already done so could you please return all information forms for pupils. If you have changed addresses or phone numbers over the Summer, please pop the new information down on a piece of paper and give it to a member of staff.
Learning Log – Children will bring home their Learning log every Friday. There will be activities to complete at home. Some activities may be interactive. Please return these folders back to school by Tuesday at the latest.
Reading Folders – Please can we initially ask for all Reading Folders to be returned to School everyday. This will allow for us to read with them as much as possible in School time.

Letters and Sounds: |
Phase One of Letters and Sounds concentrates on developing children's speaking and listening skills and lays the foundations for the phonic work which starts in Phase 2. The emphasis during Phase 1 is to get children attuned to the sounds around them and ready to begin developing oral blending and segmenting skills.
Phase 1 is divided into seven aspects. Each aspect contains three strands: Tuning in to sounds (auditory discrimination), Listening and remembering sounds (auditory memory and sequencing) and Talking about sounds (developing vocabulary and language comprehension).
