Welcome to the
School Council
Meet the School Council...
What's our job?
As members of the school council, it is our job to represent the opinions, feelings and ideas of our classmates to the teachers in order to help improve standards and create a school that we thrive in. We have weekly meetings where we discuss tasks and targets on our action plan, as well as any issues or concerns raised to us by our peers. We work with Miss Baker to achieve our goals and meet with Mr. Coole every few weeks in our Forum meetings. We also have to feedback to governors about our achievements every term. Take a look at our action plan below...
Our main targets this year are...
- to help pupils to understand and engage with the Four Core Purposes of the new curriculum, Curriculum for Wales.
- to make links with other schools.
Links with other schools
We have made links with other schools in the Rhondda Cynon Taff to share the tasks we do and the ideas we have, as well as discuss ways to improve our school and its practices. We have made a link with LLyn Y Forwyn Primary in Ferndale to help us to improve and develop our Welsh and Criw Cymraeg/ Welsh club.
We have visited Blaengwawr Primary School in Aberdare and met their school council. They gave us a tour and showed us all of their favourite parts, as well as the achievements and impact they have had on their school. We had a fabulous time, made new friends and loved their school. We then invited them to visit Darran Park Primary too and we really enjoyed showcasing our school! They were very impressed! We can't wait to meet them again.
We have also visited Parc Primary School in Cwmparc to share good practice as their school council's work was highlighted by Estyn as being excellent. We learned a lot and continue to work with them to help us be the best school council we can be!
