Fairy tale wedding
What a fantastic day we had! Lots of fun was had when Years 1 and 2 celebrated the mock marriage of The Gingerbread Man to The Fairy Godmother. During the term we had been learning about the church and the Christian faith. We had planned to conduct the wedding ceremony at St Dunstan's Church but due to a storm we were unable to travel there. So, plan number two was to hold the ceremony in the hall. We put out benches to create pews and the wedding party walked to the wedding march up the aisle to the altar. After the wedding ceremony all the children had an amazing time at the wedding reception. Many thanks for your kind donations of food and drink. Reading Cafe
Wow! Wow! Wow! We can't thank you enough for attending our reading cafe today. It was an amazing turn out and we hope you enjoyed taking part in the different activities. We wanted to give you a taster session of what we have been learning during our Fairy tale topic. The children were able to show how they use laptops in school and in particular HWB and Active learn websites. On the Ipad section children showed the variety of Apps they have been using. Eg building Grandma's cottage in Minecraft, retelling stories using Puppet Pals and Book Creator. On each table were challenge cards or Oh No problem solving cards. For example in the lego area, Oh No! The Big Bad Wolf has blown down the Three Little Pigs house. Can you build them a new home? Can you measure it using a ruler? We hope you enjoyed the day as much as we did! Please let us know if you enjoyed the afternoon and also if there is anything you would like in the future. |

Croeso and welcome to Year 2. We have lots of fun activities planned for the Autumn Term. We will be learning about our local environment including the local park and animal habitats. We will be reading about Percy the Park keeper and his adventures in the park. His animal friends help him but also get up to a lot of mischief. To start our topic, Percy sent us a video message to ask us to take part in a mission. |

We visited Ferndale fire station and talked about fire safety.
We enjoyed taking turns to wear a fireman's uniform. The firemen gave us a booklet to take home. We learned the importance of not touching matches. "Matches, matches, never touch They can hurt you very much." |
As part of our topic of Community Explorers, we have enjoyed taking part in PE games on the astroturf in Darran Park.
We have contrasted our rural Darran Park to a park in the city, Roath Park. We looked at the similarities and differences.
During our visit, we walked around the park, wearing our nature crowns, collecting interesting items.
