Our first 2 weeks in school

We have been really busy since we started back at school! Our new topic is Blood, Bones and Gory Bits. It is all about our bodies. The first thing we did was draw around our bodies and then we filled in the bones and organs that we knew already.

We then started to learn more about our skeletons. We measured the sizes of different bones in our bodies and learnt the names of them, and the jobs that they do (move, support or protect). We used different sizes and shapes of pasta to make our own skeletons.

In our Literacy lessons we have enjoyed reading the story of Doctor Frankenstein, who was lonely and created his own friend. We have been focusing on using fantastic vocabulary when we re-told the story and wrote descriptions of Frankenstein’s monster.

We started swimming lessons this week. This year, as well as developing our swimming skills we are also going to learn some basic lifesaving skills to keep us safe in and around water. Remember to bring swimming kits every Wednesday!

In Welsh we have been taking it in turns to be ‘helpwr heddiw’. This means that you help the class to practice and improve their Welsh by playing language games every day. We have been learning the Welsh words for different body parts and to ask and answer the question ‘Beth sy’n bod?’ (what’s the matter?).
